Provincial Nominee Programs in Canada is used to nominate applicants who have shown interest in settling in a province and such applicants are selected according to the province's immigration needs. A province's PNP often have several streams tailored towards different needs of the province.

For each province, there are set criteria that applicants are to meet. In general, the criteria are often geared towards nominating applicants who can positively contribute to the province.

As previously mentioned, there are different streams of PNP and its mode of operation differs. For some, applicants would have to submit an Expression of Interest, some are on first come, first served basis and application often closes as soon as desired numbers of applicants are reached. PNP streams can also be Express Entry aligned or "base" (without Express Entry).

Application Process and Processing Time for a PNP application

The category of the Provincial Nominee Program often determines the application process. The paper-based process involves submitting a physical application and supporting documents, while the online application is Express Entry.
